Thomas Birtwistle is a visual artist and photographer living in Portland, Maine. His work has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the region, including The Portland Museum of Art, the Colby College Museum of Art, the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, and the Clark Gallery in Lincoln Massachusetts. He has been recognized by the Aperture Foundation, the Maine arts commission, and has recently completed a residency at Monson Arts continuing work on his long term project, Rites of Spring. Thomas is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a member of the Portland based Bakery Photographic Collective.
