BPC Memberships

  • Applications are reviewed on the third Tuesday of each month.

  • Our review process is conducted by all good standing members of the collective. A majority vote is held in accordance to our bylaws.

Supporting Membership

We have several options for our supporting memberships, your generosity helps make this all possible.

  • There are several levels of support to meet your comfort zone.

  • For as little as $10 a month and upwards to whatever you feel comfortable contributing, our supporting memberships are flexible. See full list of options on the sign up page.

  • Your support energizes our efforts to bring fellowship and photography to the Maine arts community. Directly supporting the Bakery Photo Collective is one of the most effective ways an individual or business can contribute to ensure that we will remain a vital and thriving arts education organization for many years to come.

    – No amount is too little! Do keep in mind that as a 501c3 non-profit organization, all supporting memberships are tax-deductible. See the sign up page for more info.

Internship/Volunteer

Gain a few extra credits for school or maybe you would love to volunteer at a nonprofit.

  • • 3-month commitment, by application only. Limited to 2 interns / volunteers at a time

  • Free. Interns and volunteers must donate one 6 hour day a week at minimum

  • • In exchange for donating your time, you will be granted access to all our facilities to work on your own projects

    • Great learning opportunity for anyone interested in art nonprofits

    • Students have the opportunity to earn credits

Work Trade Membership

Work-Trade Members are allowed full membership privileges, at half dues in exchange for hours of service as a lab monitor every other week

    • Work Trade-Membership is renewed quarterly, to ensure that the day-to-day rental hours remain consistent.

  • $75/A month + up to one 3 hour shift as a lab monitor every other week.

  • Work-Trade Members will have 24/7 access to all our facilities: iMacs, our large-format Epson printers, Epson flatbed scanners, film processing center and darkrooms

    •  A reduced price of ink for Digital printing, at a rate of 3¢ per square inch

    • Half dues in exchange for up to three hours of service as a lab monitor every other week, during a specified shift to be determined during their application process

    • Work-Trade members will be granted one vote for voting at Bakery meetings

    •  One flat file for storage

    • In order to qualify for Work-Trade, applicants must agree to be trained or shown they’re capable of using or setting up all of the machines (printers, darkrooms, scanners, ect), in the facility at a basic level, by the studio manager or president

Core Membership

Core members have 24/7 access to all our facilities and so much more, we welcome you to be a part of our photographic community.

  • • 6-month commitment, by application only

  • $150 / month

  • • Core members have 24/7 access to all our facilities: iMacs, our large-format Epson printers, Epson flatbed scanners, film processing center and darkrooms

    • Use of our Flextight X1 professional scanner (after a tutorial and trial period)

    • Digital printing, ink rate of 3¢ per square inch

    • Use of darkroom A

    • Access to our members only website with Bakery video tutorials, community forum and free cloud storage + more

    • Core members have voting privileges at Bakery meetings

    • Option to be elected to our board of directors

    • Discount on all Bakery workshops

    • Full access / book checkout with our extensive photobook library

    • Opportunity to exhibit work at our collective exhibitions

    • Discount at the Bakery online shop

    • One flat file for storage

    • 15% discount on film developing at Hunt’s South Portland location

    • 15% discount with Northeast Photographic

    • 15% discount with Maine Photo Works

    • All core members are expected to share in responsibilities to the collective (committee work, covering renters' hours, organizing Photo A Go-Go)
