This two-day intensive is an introduction to 16mm filmmaking on the Bolex H16, culminating in a screening of a film you make! Learn about the special properties of this mechanical marvel still loved by experimental filmmakers all over. We will explore how ideas of filmmaking are informed by the tools one uses, and focus on explorations of light and time.
On Day One we will introduce the camera: learn to load, operate, properly expose, and focus; and then collaboratively shoot B&W reversal film. On Day Two we will process in Lomo tanks, edit on tape splicers, and screen our film.
All film and materials are included in the cost of the workshop.
